I have been a classroom teacher for seven non-consecutive years. Upon

graduating from USM in 2004 with a bachelors degree in French,

I immediately started teaching middle school French in Ocean Springs, MS.

After three years of teaching I felt the need to further my education by pursuing                                                                       a masters degree, so I left teaching and enrolled at MississippiState University.                                                                        After a year at MSU I graduated with a masters degreein French Literature.

When I finished my masters degree I was unsure of what direction I wanted to go so I decided to move to Los Angeles, CA to work in the TV and Film industry. This was not as random as it seems, I had friends that offered me a place to stay and job opportunities. I spent a year traveling across the country working in production of reality TV shows such as Top Chef and Project Runway. During the time I was not working in production, I was a substitute teacher at a French immersion school.

After a unbelievable year I decided it was time to move closer to home. I wanted to find a career where I could use my French-speaking skills. I found a job at Delta/Air France in Atlanta, GA. I was a customer service agent for their French-speaking clientele traveling in the United States. This job was very fulfilling but something was drawing me home. I heard about a French teaching position with USM on a study-abroad program in France. I accepted the position and within a month of leaving Atlanta I was teaching French to American students studying in France. This was a temporary position that lasted one college semester.

I arrived home to Gulfport, MS in the summer of 2011 and it was just my luck that a French teaching position opened up at my hometown high school. I started teaching at Gulfport High School in the fall of 2011 and I just entered my fourth year this August. During my time teaching at GHS I have discovered so many new technologies that enhance the teaching and learning experience. I have seen the amazing things that come from using technology in the classroom and this inspired me to start the Instructional Technology masters program at USM. I am here to gain the skills and education necessary to share my knowledge with my fellow educators from a training perspective.
